What Is

Mosley MAPPS?

M.A.P.P.S is an advanced academic program that provides admission to all qualified applicants. The basis of our program is to provide challenging classes at the Honors, Dual-Enrolled and AP level, in a nurturing environment that prepares students for post-secondary success. We firmly believe in the College Board principles of access and equity and we therefore especially seek traditionally underrepresented groups in MAPPS.

Our counselors constantly work to seek out and identify students who are qualified for our program, but have not applied. We then explain the benefits of what we offer, and invite these students to apply for admission to MAPPS. We pride ourselves in the flexibility we can offer students in curriculum choices, especially for first generation students who may not be as well prepared as others. Our goal is to create a schedule that is most appropriate for the individual needs and abilities of all our students.

Is Mosley MAPPS the Right Fit for ME?

We do not have a prefabricated, one-size-fits-all curriculum. Our professional counselors will customize a curriculum that allows you to build on your strengths and abilities. If a student’s goal is to attend a college where admission is highly competitive, then our goal is to help you build an academic record with Advanced Placement (AP) and Dual Enrolled (DE) classes which reflect a rigorous course of study as well as depth of curriculum. Our students that want to pursue S.T.E.M. careers will fill many of their electives with classes from these areas. Our honors level Pre-AP classes are designed with the goal of helping students transition to high school while at the same time preparing them to take college level Dual Enrolled (DE) and/or Advanced Placement (AP) classes.

History of Mosley MAPPS?

Established 1999

1973

A. Crawford Mosley High School opened as the Bay County, Florida’s third high school to serve the developing area of Lynn Haven, FL.

1983

Mosley began its highly successful relationship with the prestigious and internationally recognized Advanced Placement (AP) Program.

1995

Mosley established a math/science magnet program on campus known as MACSM for students interested in pursuing careers in engineering, bio-medical fields, and computers.

1999

Due to the success of MACSM,  Mosley Advanced Placement Program for Success (MAPPS) was established to provide a nurturing environment for our college-bound students.

Located on the A. Crawford Mosley High School campus in Lynn Haven, Florida, the Mosley Advanced Placement Program for Success (MAPPS) is a college preparatory program for students in ninth through twelfth grade.

A. Crawford Mosley High School has a well-established reputation for academic excellence. Seeking to provide our students with the best possible preparation for college, Mosley has continuously upgraded its honors program since the school’s opening in 1973. In 1983, Mosley began its highly successful relationship with the prestigious and internationally recognized Advanced Placement Program. Mosley has also developed a close relationship with neighboring Gulf Coast Community College through the Dual-Enrollment Program. In 1995, Mosley established a math/science magnet program on campus known as MACSM for students interested in pursuing careers in engineering, bio-medical fields, and computers. These students are provided both a specially designed curriculum and a support network of teachers, parents, counselors, and community professionals to ensure the best possible preparation for such demanding professions.

The overwhelming response by students and parents to MACSM prompted Mosley to redesign our college preparatory program along similar lines. By establishing the Mosley Advanced Placement Program for Success (MAPPS), we provide a nurturing environment for our college-bound students. Flexible curriculum choices allow students to develop personal strengths while also meeting state scholarship as well as diploma requirements. Over the past decade, research has shown that college students who participated in the Advanced Placement Program in high school outperform their peers in college. Because Mosley has been the leader among district high schools in AP examination results since the introduction of the program into Bay County in the early 1980’s, MAPPS is founded on a strong record of academic performance.

Furthermore, MAPPS believes that a student’s future success should not be strictly defined by such commendable academic success. The college preparatory program at Mosley provides an environment which seeks to develop the total person; therefore, MAPPS promotes student involvement in the performing arts, athletics, and voluntary service to the community. Our guidance counselors, faculty advisors, and program coordinators encourage student participation in a wide variety of activities that prepare students not just for college, but for life.

Since 1975, Mosley has sent forth its graduates to embrace their future. As our college preparatory program alumni continue their education at many of the finest colleges and universities, one constant theme emerges when they return to their alma mater,

“Thank you for preparing us so well!”

A Message from Mr. T:

I am very excited to be the MAPPS Coordinator at Mosley High School. I am a Mosley graduate (C/O 2003) and have a passion for the MAPPS Program. I am proud to be an alumni of Gulf Coast Community College (now state college), Florida State – Panama City, and the University of West Florida. My goal is to continue to grow the MAPPS program by highlighting the access and availability that we offer our students. Mosley MAPPS offers the most AP and Dual Enrolled (on campus) courses than any other high school in the county. This access allows our students and their families to save valuable time and money while receiving as many college credits as desired. It would be a disservice not to mention the highly qualified teachers, counselors, and administrators that make the MAPPS Program thrive. We have big things happening in the future and I can’t wait! It’s going to be a fun ride.
