M.A.P.P.S is an advanced academic program that provides admission to all qualified applicants. The basis of our program is to provide challenging classes at the Honors, Dual-Enrolled and AP level, in a nurturing environment that prepares students for post-secondary success. We firmly believe in the College Board principles of access and equity and we therefore especially seek traditionally underrepresented groups in MAPPS.
Our counselors constantly work to seek out and identify students who are qualified for our program, but have not applied. We then explain the benefits of what we offer, and invite these students to apply for admission to MAPPS. We pride ourselves in the flexibility we can offer students in curriculum choices, especially for first generation students who may not be as well prepared as others. Our goal is to create a schedule that is most appropriate for the individual needs and abilities of all our students.
We do not have a prefabricated, one-size-fits-all curriculum. Our professional counselors will customize a curriculum that allows you to build on your strengths and abilities. If a student’s goal is to attend a college where admission is highly competitive, then our goal is to help you build an academic record with Advanced Placement (AP) and Dual Enrolled (DE) classes which reflect a rigorous course of study as well as depth of curriculum. Our students that want to pursue S.T.E.M. careers will fill many of their electives with classes from these areas. Our honors level Pre-AP classes are designed with the goal of helping students transition to high school while at the same time preparing them to take college level Dual Enrolled (DE) and/or Advanced Placement (AP) classes.
Dual Enrolled classes are taught on the Mosley campus and students earn college credit at GCSC. These credits also have high rates of acceptance within the state of Florida, as well as out of state. For our students who know they will be attending GCSC, we plan a curriculum that emphasizes Dual Enrolled classes, a tremendous financial advantage for parents.
Mosley offers nationally recognized AP classes where students have the opportunity to earn college credit by examination. Since beginning our relationship with College Board in 1983, we have led the district in the number of AP exams passed annually. The number and variety of AP classes we offer exceeds any other school in the district.
