FRESHMAN YEAR: FOUNDATIONS
The freshman year MACSM curriculum is designed to establish a strong foundation in mathematics. Students will take Pre-AP Honors Geometry and the first course in Pre-AP Honors Algebra II. MACSM freshmen can also fulfill many of their graduation requirements by carefully using their electives. Entering freshman may attend summer school in June to earn elective credit under the states A ++ Plan.

SOPHOMORE YEAR: CHOICES
MACSM sophomores may begin individualizing their Liberal Arts curriculum by choosing prerequisite courses in computers, engineering, and medical sciences. Sophomores may also begin earning college credit by taking Dual-Enrolled courses and Advanced Placement courses. To qualify for Dual-Enrolled Biology or Western Civilization a sophomore must have a qualifying score on the Gulf Coast Community College reading test. A qualifying score on the GCCC mathematics test is required to take Statistics for college credit. Students may also qualify to take AP Statistics. Sophomores can qualify for Advanced Placement Modern European History based on their Freshman year GPA, PSAT results, and recommendation of their English and History instructors.
Rising sophomores may sign up for the PSAT Preparation Course in June. All MAPPS sophomores will take the PSAT in October.

JUNIOR YEAR: COLLEGE LEVEL
The course work for the MACSM junior is equivalent to the first semester of the freshman year in college. Advanced Placement course qualification is based on sophomore GPA, PSAT results, and performance in prerequisite courses. MACSM juniors who are taking Dual-Enrolled mathematics courses must have a qualifying score on the GCCC mathematics test. Rising MACSM juniors may wish to take the SAT Preparation Course during summer school. All MACSM students will take the SAT and ACT during their junior year.

Math placement will depend on the eighth-grade math course, teacher recommendation, and score on a math placement test. Most students will qualify for Pre-AP Honors Geometry or Pre-AP Honors Algebra I. Entering freshman may attend summer school in June to earn elective credit under the states A ++ Plan.
