Meet the Coordinator

imageMr. Clint Whitfield is a native of Long Beach, Mississippi, where he attended W. J. Quarles Elementary, Long Beach Middle School, and Long Beach High School. After graduating high school in 2000, Mr. Whitfield attended Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and played baseball for two years. He was also a member of SGA, and was inducted into the academic hall of fame at MGCCC. Mr. Whitfield then attended Mississippi College for one year before he transferred to the University of Southern Mississippi where he obtained a bachelors degree in History.

After graduation, Mr. Whitfield returned this alma mater to teach for a year before he was offered a job with Bay District Schools in 2005. He first taught at Haney Technical High School, and began coaching baseball for Mosley High School. While at Mosley, Mr. Whitfield has coached basketball, and currently coaches baseball and girls weightlifting. He also sponsors Beta Club and is also the Beta State Sponsor Elect for the state of Florida. Mr. Whitfield is also involved with MULET. In 2011, Mr. Whitfield finished his masters degree in American History from American Military University, and also authored "Nelson A. Miles: The Man Who Ended the Plains Indian Wars," which appeared in the 2011 winter issue of Journal of the West.

Mr. Whitfield has taught AP United States History for 5 years, and also attends the AP Reading in Kentucky each summer. Mr. Whitfield was chosen as Mosley Teacher of the Year in 2011, and also became the new MAPPS coordinator in 2011. Mr. Whitfield is happily married to Courtney Whitfield, and they have a one year old daughter named Avery. Mr. Whitfield enjoys watching Southern Miss football, reading history books, spending time with his family, and travelling. He especially enjoys George Washington and histories on the Plains Indian Wars.
